Discipleship: Thought du Jour 1

Laying the Foundation

What are you building your life on? Relationships, money, career, sports, education? You can tell by what you spend most of your time on.

While these things are not necessarily bad things, building your life on any of these is a big risk because there is no guarantee that they will last. (Ecclesiastes 3:11: "He has set eternity in their hearts.")

You must build a foundation that lasts! A relationship with Christ is sure to be the foundation you need. In fact, He is the only sure foundation.

But in order to understand the Good News, we need to understand the bad news first.

THE BAD NEWS
The bad news is, we have sinned and fallen short of God and His glory. (Romans 3:23)

Romans 6: 23a tells us that the wages of sin is death. The fact is, we have earned our wages.

THE GOOD NEWS
Christ took our place in death! (Romans 5:6-9)

Salvation is a free gift! (Romans 6:23b)

Salvation is by grace and through Christ alone. (Ephesians 2: 8-9)

You only have to ask for salvation. (Romans 10:9-11)

SALVATION IS FOREVER!!! (John 3:16)
